Although it is essentially the same as most apple pies, Dutch appeltaart differs from the classic American apple pie in many ways: it is baked in a spring-form pan, making it deeper; it is drier on the interior; it is full of big chunks of apple, currants, and raisins, and it is full of speculoos.

Hi Laura, Ik ben al een tijdje fan van jouw recept voor oma's appeltaart. Ik maak het met glutenvrij zelfrijzend bakmeel (van freee). Een van de weinige taarten waarbij je niet proeft dat het glutenvrij is! Ik merk wel dat mijn deeg ná het bakken voornamelijk uit elkaar valt. De laatste keer was het ook niet meer te snijden.

Maar net als oma's appeltaart zou het zomaar kunnen dat je deze cake, al dan niet in een net andere vorm, nog kent van 'vroeger'. Ouderwets of niet, hij smaakt in ieder geval nog steeds fantastisch! Appelcake maken. Voor dit appelcake recept heb je niet veel nodig. Met de standaard ingrediënten voor cake en daarbij nog wat appels kan je.

Leg deze kruislings bovenop de taart. Met een laatste strook deeg maak je de taart rondom af. Bak de speculaas appeltaart in 60 minuten op 170 °C (boven- en onderwarmte). Laat de taart afkoelen in de vorm zodat hij steviger wordt. Nog een klein beetje warm met een toef slagroom is hij zalig!

For the dough: Sieve the flour, brown sugar, vanilla and the salt into a bowl. Cut the butter or margarine into small cubes and add these to the flour mixture. Beat the egg and add 3/4 of it to the flour mixture (you will need the rest for the top). Using two knives, mix the butter/margarine and the flour mixture.
